07' Brainerd Results

Brainerd International Raceway

Brainerd was Hot and exciting, this year (07') we were moved into the Pro pits with the Pro Stock Bikes. Friday we had two qualifying passes and Saturday we only had one because of some passing showers. Sunday's weather was a little cooler making for a great day of racing. As always we all made our annual trips to the "Zoo" (campground) to see what new contraptions campers put together for cruising around the Zoo.

Qualifying:

Edwin Wirbel set the early pace with a low qualifying pass of 8.46. Bray Racing followed closely behind qualifying in the next 3 spots. Each of their sleds ran between 8.70 and 8.77, that is what you call team consistancy. Ted Wiegel finally got his sled to go straight in the final qualifyer and bumped himslef into the 5th spot. Darrin and Dale missed the first round of qualifyers with engine problems. They then put together a good run placing them 6th. Rich Stumpf, driving the Wirbels 800 ran an impressive 9.08 for the 7th position. Danny Blachfelner put together a 9.53 to end up in the 8th position.

Eliminations:

Eliminations were highlighted by Edwin Wirbel running three consecutive runs in the 8.30's and Darrin and Dale pulling what had to be considered an upset win in the second round with a wounded motor, put together a career best 8.55 pass to knock Ron Bray out of a final round birth.

Final Round:

In the final Edwin Wirbel ran a career best 8.35 at 151.97 setting a new NSDRA/NHRA record. Congratulations to Edwin and Louie for putting together an impressive elimination run.
